Jan 24th, 2020 In November 2019 Granite & TREND Transformations launched our first ever New Year New Kitchen competition. The competition was promoted on our Facebook page asking our audience to 
send in their reasons why they deserve a new kitchen makeover. The winner would recieve a full kitchen makeover worth £10,000!!! With a budget of £10,000 we can really transform the kitchen of our competition winner Katrina.
By keeping the cabinet units in place, we will replace the door fronts and drawer fronts (changing functionality if required) and lay a beautiful new worktop and splashbacks over the existing ones. Add a new sink and taps, and then it is all about the details….
We had some incredible entries supported by photographs of their kitchen. In December we had the incredibly difficult task of shortlisting the final three entries.
The shortlist grew to six entries as it was far too difficult narrowing this down to 3! The team found this really tough due to the standard of the entries so to make things a little easier we had a few mince pies during the process.
The shortlisted entries were brilliant, we put them onto our Facebook pages to let the public decide who should win this incredible prize. The voting frenzy started on the 20th December and the winner would be announced on the 7th January…
On the 7th January there was a clear winner… introducing Katrina!
Her entry showed us just how much she needed a new kitchen. Her cupboard doors were peeling, her drawers were falling apart and we just loved how she took the time to be so creative and come up with a poem telling us how much she needed a new kitchen. In January we paid a couple of visits to our very happy competition winner (Assistant Head teacher at a special needs school) and her Mum Lesley, to take a look at her current kitchen and plan her kitchen makeover.
We started by showing her the displays in our Colchester* showroom to get an idea of what Katrina was looking for. Katrina decided on cream doors so that is where we began.
We then looked to see which granite worktops would compliment this colour and her favourite was Royal Ivory because of the sparkle.
